Notes from the studio

July 11, 2025

The trees once whispered to her studio—
green breath against glass, shadows that danced with the dawn.
Then came the storm.
Helene howled through the garden, tore the canopy down,
left silence in the place of song.
The walls still stood, but her artist heart splintered—
roots shaken, light dimmed.
Now, seasons later, she returns.
Brush in hand. Grief softened by time.
Unfinished works wait like seeds beneath the soil,
and she begins again—
a garden of intention rising in the quiet,
where art will bloom anew.

This morning as I walked into my studio, I saw unfinished work in all directions. From September 2024–July 2025, I have mostly taking a break from working on my art. This was not intentional but the result of my heart healing from the destruction of the garden and forest by Hurricane Helene. My studio is on the 2nd floor of our house and was once surrounded by trees. The trees were a source of inspiration. Helene took them down but spared my studio. She did, however, break my artist heart. I needed time to put things into perspective. I am alive, we are still in recovery but making progress and I need to get back to work.

As of today, I am back to work in the studio and once again working on a solo exhibit. I did postpone the date of my exhibit until May/June of 2027. I need to finish some of the unfinished work but I know the focus of this exhibit has changed. Still working it out but will post pictures of works in progress.

I hope you will enjoy seeing the journey to my solo exhibit. I will post pictures in process and keep you updated as art heals me.
